Elect
David Faherty, Jr.
Select Board

"Property taxes on a median priced home have increased 31% in five years making Brewster unaffordable for young families and seniors on a fixed income. Brewster needs to control spending."

Issues

  • Common Sense Spending to Minimize Tax Increases

  • Affordable taxes for Town development plans for the Sea Camp properties within proposition 2 ½

  • Safeguarding town watersheds, ponds and water quality by limiting nearby construction and enforcing septic setbacks

  • Prioritizing town capital projects for spending on key needs including school improvements and budget versus non critical requests

1.    What convinced you to run for Select Board?

  • Property tax increases of 31% on a median valued home in the last 5 years

  • Failure of the $11,400,000 debt exclusion to pass at the fall town meeting  only to be passed after reconsideration once 10 to 15 "no" voters left the town meeting

  • The Bay Property Planning Committee published their recommendations for both properties totaling $57 MILLION which by their calculations would add $440 per year to each Brewster property tax bill

  • $36 MILLION in planned capital spending for the elementary schools, public works, library, fire department and other projects through fiscal year 2029 adding almost another $300 per year in property tax.
